The Public Health Association, with the international transaction name of Vietnam Public Health Association (abbreviated VPHA), was officially established on June 6, 2002, under Decision No. 29/2002/QD-BTCCBCP.
The Association is a voluntary social-professional organization of Vietnamese citizens and organizations operating in the field of public health. The main purpose of the association is to gather and unite people working in the field of public health in order to cooperate and help each other take care of, protect, and improve people's health and develop the field. Public health in the country and integration with the region and the world. The Public Health Association also helps protect and take care of the legitimate professional, physical, and spiritual benefits for its members.
Since 2005, the association has had 14 years of experience in the field of tobacco harm prevention, namely:
- Support the implementation of the Tobacco Control Law in Vietnam
- Provide scientific evidence
- Implement a smoke-free model
- Advocate for law enforcement propaganda
With these main strategies, the Public Health Association has achieved a lot of achievements, such as - 2 smoke-free tourist cities are Hue and Nha Trang
- Vietnam's first smoke-free university
- Model of public health members of the elderly volunteering in tobacco harm prevention and control
- Mobilize 11 member provinces to participate in advocacy of the Tobacco Control Law in six provinces
- Carry out propaganda activities on social networking sites
- Produce and standardize instructional and communication documents
- 8.5 million people in 11 provinces and cities benefit from projects implemented by the Public Health Association
Vietnam Public Health Magazine has been published since 2004 with 4 Vietnamese issues and 2 English issues per year. With its efforts after 15 years, the magazine has confirmed itself and was rated 3.5 by the evaluation committee of MEDLINE. As a result, the journal is increasingly popular among scientists, and more than 700 published publications have helped policymakers and scientists disseminate knowledge and provide evidence.
