The Vietnam Public Health Association and International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease work with Thai Binh provincial leaders on activities being implemented in Thai Binh province.

On January 24, 2019, the Vietnam Public Health Association (VPHA) and International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease met and worked with leaders of Thai Binh province about the ongoing activities and direction of cooperation in the coming time.

The meeting was chaired by Mrs. Nguyen Thi Linh - Vice Chairman of Thai Binh Provincial People's Committee. Also during this trip, VPHA visited and wished the teachers of Thai Binh Medical College - the key cadres selected to participate in developing the model in the future.

At the meeting, Ms. Nguyen Thi Linh introduced to the delegation the characteristics of geographical location, socio-economic development situation, generalized some key points about the health network of Thai Binh province and activities to prevent non-infectious diseases and tobacco harm prevention are being implemented in the province.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Linh said: “The key tasks that we want to aim for in the coming time are to promote propaganda on tobacco control, especially to promote communication on prohibited acts. Another goal is to influence the emulation movement "build smoke-free environment". With the education sector, we will organize extracurricular meetings at the educational level to propagate tobacco harm to prevent and reduce smoking in adolescents. Finally, the focus of 2019, the Provincial People's Committee assigned SYT to coordinate and direct the units in the district, and cooperate with the Public Health Association, the Fatherland Front to replicate the model of SPHV”

Ms. Nguyen Thi Linh hopes that The Union and VPHA continue to pay attention to implementing activities to contribute to improving people's health in Thai Binh.

Rideout, Deputy Director in charge of Asia-Pacific Region - The Union said that Thai Binh province is very fortunate to have provincial leaders interested in the prevention and control of harmful effects of tobacco and she hopes that The Union, VPHA and Thai Binh province will have a long-term cooperative relationship

During the working trip, The Union and VPHA also met with a group of lecturers of Thai Binh YT College, this group of core trainers has been trained to be the main force to develop and replicate the model of Senior Public Heath Volunteer to localities.
