  • POLICY ADVOCACY

Since 2002, Vietnam Public Health Association (VPHA) determined one of its missions was doing policy advocacy and policy criticism. The VPHA’s executive committee and staffs were experts in Health and Public health sectors in Vietnam.
In order to complete the mission, VPHA conducted many health programs and projects during the last 15 years in communes, districts and provinces in Vietnam based on the network of 10 Provincial Public Health Association. Many best practices, new interventions, community-based models and research were conducted by VPHA to provide scientific evidence to head of all levels from grassroots level to national level. Until now, VPHA’s programs have achieved many positive results and success. Those successes were not only shown in annual reports of each program but also strongly shown up through legal documents were issued from grassroots level to national level during 15 years.

 

  • PUBLIC HEALTH PRACTICE MODEL

Conduct research cooperation to provide evidence, control priority public health issues that are suitable for each provincial association in specific region and country. For example: The association in Dong Thap province has a strategy to develop research center (systems) such as exploiting resources, connecting with the Southwest (Kien Giang, Ca Mau, Dong Thap) on border health issues.

Develop a database of priority public health issues: Make a list of experts and researchers. For example: In order to know information right away, the database in this netwwork can show Who works in the field of the elderly, their research and who can connect under the coordination of the Association in any direction.

Present, Promot, introduce good models through the network mobilizing the participation of government agencies to apply, develop models on a large scale

Create a forum for exchanging public health practices and sharing knowledge: face-to-face or video, ect.

From the results of these models, the study’s recommendations are included in the formulation of legal documents and practical policies applied nationwide.

 

  • JOURNAL OF PUBLIC HEALTH

Improve the quality of magazines to be recognized as regional-standard journals, magazine on the list of Medline International Journal system

Increase the number of scientific articles sent to the Journal through appropriate communication measures

Continuously improve the process of receiving papers, reviewing pravitely, responding to authors, checking and printing.

Maintain and develop a convenient and friendly Magazine website.

Regularly strengthen the capacity of secretarial, editorial and editorial staffs.

 

  • PUBLIC HEALTH RESEARCH AND TRAINING CENTRE

The Center for Public Health Research and Training operates on the principle of expert network from domestic and international units on priority fields of Vietnam Public Health Association. Experts will be invited to participate directly in studies, developing programs or training courses for specific subjects in necessary cases.

Research and training materials will be kept, updated, shared and widely applied, especially public health intervention programs.

The Center for Public Health Research and Training will be greatly supported from the activities of 3 representative fields in areas of North - Central - South and vice versa, the center will also be responsible for operating these three sites according to specific designs for selected interventions, possibly through the development of intervention models.

The idea of establishing this center is to directly conduct research and training to serve the tasks of the Association’s system.
